From the outside this place looks very small but as out tour guide said it is like an Icelandic church - it is a lot bigger and a lot nicer then it looks from the outside. Snotra Hostel is perfect for college/ school parties. The communal space is surrounded by the rooms. It is very cosy with a big television, games and a kitchen to make drinks. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Our hosts were amazing, really friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. We had lots of special requests which were all catered for. When we went to look for the Northern Lights they were able to turn off lots of the lighting in the street so that we didn’t have to move from the hostel. They are clear to see from the hostel. The food was delicious with fresh baked warm bread on the side. I would definitely stay here for future trips.

Amazing hostel. The rooms are nice and clean, the owners are very friendly, there's plenty of showers and toilets so you'll never have to wait too long.

The kitchen is above average too, it has induction plates, which is a first on my Iceland round-trip. You even get a selection of free sauces there.

Check in time is until 22:00 and check out at 10:00.

This was the best hostel I visited in iceland. The owners are incredibly nice, helpful and accommodating!! The hostel is new, spacious and very very clean. There was plenty of room to move around in the dorms, the showers were clean and the kitchen was new and tidy. Would DEFINITELY stay again. It’s only 10 minutes down a farm road from the 1.

The BEST hostel I stayed at my entire week in Iceland. I wish I had stayed more than one night. The owner is just lovely and genuinely cares about guest experience. There is a keypad into each room, a kitchen, a couple of bathrooms and showers in separate rooms, and a moody sitting area. By far the most comfortable hostel bed I’ve slept on with nice and comfy, thick blanket and pillow. I hated to leave! It’s about 20-30 minutes from Hella, but well worth the drive. This hostel far exceeds the average hostel stay anywhere else in the country. Will definitely stay again!

Hands down THE best hostel you can stay at in Iceland. The couple who run the hostel are absolutely lovely. They were informative, helpful and willing to share traveling tips about Iceland and elsewhere. This hostel has a cozy and friendly feel to it, making it easy to connect with fellow travellers. If you're lucky, you may even be able to see the northern lights (we did)!

Honestly the best hostel I have ever stayed anywhere in the world. Did not have opportunity to try other hostels in Iceland, but there is no way to go wrong with this one. Very short drive from the main 1 road. Peaceful and calm location. Price is very for Iceland. The interior- bravo, it is warm, cosy, I liked he music and tidiness. Really one of the best places you could find in Iceland to stay for such a price, my room also had the view of mountains- can only recommend this place 10/10.

The most friendly staff I've seen in an Icelandic hostel 🙂 This hostel has nice retro ("old") interior put in a modern way. You can choose a room for yourself or you can stay with other guests in a shared room (which is a bit cheaper). The prices are all affordable. Shared kitchen is big and has many new appliances (and each table has a toaster machine for yourself, which is handy while making breakfast) and many spices and other things you can use while cooking. You can put your own food in the refrigerator and mark it. I loved the 'Free food basket', where you can take food or put in things you do not need anymore for other guests to use. There's also a 'Used gas basket' (which I haven't seen anywhere else and I loved the idea of sharing among travellers) for partially used gas bottles (you can take them if you need them for camping or you can leave yours there for others to use). In the morning (after 7am) there's warm coffee waiting for you in the kitchen. The whole hostel has a nice locking system on the doors (which nicely says 'Welcome!' everytime you open the door). I loved every part of that hostel. It is a nice place to stay for sure when travelling by. 🙂

Our family of 4 (including 2 young children) stayed here and it was beyond impressive! The host, Arthur, was incredibly helpful and personable. The hostel was clean, quiet at night, and had a GREAT kitchen! This was the best hostel we visited on our 10-day trip to Iceland and Scotland. I highly recommend it and hope to return one day!
