This is a great place to take in some Icelandic folklore and learn about some of the less known intricacies. Similar to the Icelandic horse the leader sheep exists only in Iceland and is only bred in the utmost north eastern region.
It is a small but cute and well composed museum and the curator is a nice, entertaining and knowledgeable expert. Also the former director of the local school.

Very interesting leader sheep exhibition with a gift shop and a cafe

It is just one room with (a lot of) Taxidermies of Leader sheep heads, a life size diorama with two sheep and some skins to feel how soft the fur is as compared to other sheep, but it has a lot of information on plaques and gives you a very good idea about the whole concept of leader sheep. The young lad that was in attendance was very knowledgeable (and spoke really good English!), so we got a personal tour and learned a lot of interesting things about the leader sheep.
Admittedly, you need to be interested in these kind of things (sheep in Iceland) to make it worth the 1000 Kr admittance fee, but I paid more for much less interesting things on the Island.

The shop carries some unique items, wool from leader sheep (which is much softer - visit the museum to learn why this is the case 😉 ) and horns.

If you are in the area and have some interest in peculiarities of life stock in Iceland, definitely check it out.

Alles über Anführerschafe!
Dies ist eine kleine, feine, aber dennoch umfangreiche Ausstellung über die Entwicklung, den Einsatz und die speziellen Kompetenzen der Anführerschafe.
Auch gibt es einen Shop, in dem wunderbare Produkte rund ums Schaf erhältlich sind.
Die Menschen dort waren sehr freundlich, kommunikativ und interessant.
